Serving the Tri-state region of Eastern Kentucky, Southern Ohio and Western West Virginia
Our library occupies a large room on the lower level of the Second
Presbyterian Church building, 901 Jefferson Avenue in Huntington. Entrance
is through the double doors nearest the Southwest alley corner on the
9th Street West side of the building. One half of the room is a large
research area with plenty of tables and comfortable seating. Book shelves
line the walls at the other end. A copier is available as well as wireless
Internet access for those with laptop computers. Restrooms are just
down the hall on the same floor.
Our resources cover the tri-state area of Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia. We also have materials from Virginia. On file are hundreds or newsletters from the more than eighty genealogical societies and organizations we exchange newsletters with.
The library is open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Sunday hours are available by appointment. Everyone is welcome. Your KYOWVA membership includes free use of the library. Non-members are requested to make a small donation of a dollar or more on each visit to help support the library.
We
are always looking to add to our collections. Of particular interest
are state, county or family history books, census records, school yearbooks
and annuals, genealogy records, documents, photographs of people, places
or historical events, old diaries, journals that are important to the
Tri-State area and its roots. However, due to space limitations we cannot
accept magazines and newsletters unless they are in digital form. Only
items of historical value will be accepted. All donated materials become
the property of KYOWVA and be reviewed by the library committee. Contact
KYOWVA to make arrangements for someone to
receive your donations.
We are proud of our library and grateful to those who have contributed to make it a success. We invite you to stop in and visit us.
